You can make an "Eternal" impact on a child of a prisoner by helping sponsor them to have a Christian mentor come alongside them each week on a year-round basis. It costs us an average of about $2400 per year ($200/month) to make and support a mentor match. We have many kids waiting for a mentor and several mentors waiting to be matched. By helping sponsor a child to have a mentor we can continue to serve more children.

Nationally, the average cost for mentoring organizations to make and support a match is $1500 per year. Working with children of prisoners, our cost is slightly higher as the caregivers of the children typically do not come to us but rather we go to them. Match support is critical. Nationally, only 45 percent of matches make it a full year. Our average is over 90 percent! We believe this is due to the high level of match support we provide to the matches. Just ask any of our mentors and they will tell you how important match support is. Due to the nature and culture of the families we are working with, there are many challenges that arise. Many of the families we work with live in poverty which often results in moving from place to place and phones being disconnected, which makes communication very challenging. Bridge Builders for Kids tries to address these issues before they happen by also providing orientation and training to the child and caregiver.
